“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-20).
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).
“In laboring where there are some already in the faith, the minister should at first seek not so much to convert unbelievers as to secure his army of workers. Let him labor for the members of the church individually, seeking to arouse them to gain a deeper experience themselves, and to work for others. When the members of the church are prepared to sustain the minister by their prayers and labors, greater success will attend his efforts” (Gospel Workers, 196).
“The greatest help that can be given our people is to teach them to work for God, and to depend on Him, not on the ministers. Let them learn to work as Christ worked. Let them join His army of workers and do faithful service for Him” (Testimonies Volume 7, 19).
“In gaining a preparation for the ministry, young men should be associated with older ministers. Those who have gained an experience in active service are to take young, inexperienced workers with them into the harvest-field, teaching them how to labor successfully for the conversion of souls. Kindly and affectionately these older workers are to help the younger ones to prepare for the work to which the Lord may call them. And the young men in training should respect the counsel of their instructors, honoring their devotion, and remembering that their years of labor have given them wisdom” (Acts of the Apostles, 204).
“In all fields, nigh and afar off, men will be called from the plow and from the more common commercial business vocations that largely occupy the mind, and will be educated in connection with men of experience. As they learn to labor effectively, they will proclaim the truth with power. Through most wonderful workings of divine providence, mountains of difficulty will be removed, and cast into the sea. The message that means so much to the dwellers upon the earth will be heard and understood. Men will know what is truth. Onward and still onward the work will advance, until the whole earth shall have been warned; and then shall the end come” (Christian Service, 24).
Which of the Gospels will you begin reading to understand more clearly what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and to make disciples like Jesus?
What will you do to learn more from others who are highly effective in areas of evangelism, disciple-making, leadership, or other qualities you need?
Who can you deliberately disciple, passing on to them what you know as Jesus did?
Master and Lord, thank You for calling me to follow You. I am so unworthy, but you have promised to never lead me, but to always lead me into all truth. Please give me a humble and teachable spirit. You have promised that You have all authority, so I go forward in faith to make disciples of all nations starting with those who are closest to me, but with an eye for the ends of the earth. Help me to mentor others, equipping them as You did Your disciples. Multiply the work so that You can return soon.
