Uncover your Mission

Enslaved

49.6 million men, women, and children are trapped in slavery. Jesus cries out, "Loose the bonds of wickedness!"

Picture yourself owned by someone else, used at their command for no pay. There are around 49.6 million slaves in the world. Around 11 million are trapped in India, 5.8 million in China, 2.6 million in North Korea, 2.3 million in Pakistan. After North Korea, slavery is most prevalent (number of slaves per people) in Eritrea, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Afghanistan, and Kuwait according to the globalslaveryindex.org.

In one year Americans use 468 billion dollars-worth of products considered as likely at risk of having been made by slaves. These slave-made items especially include electronics, clothing, palm oil, and solar panels. It also often includes chocolate,, cannabis, diamonds, and pornography. Owners frequently treat slaves as disposable since they cost on average only 90 dollars, way cheaper than in the past.

Jesus cries out, Loose the bonds of wickedness!

Child Impact did it. They found Indian and Pakistani families who had never been outside a brick kiln their entire lives, as well as their parents and grandparents before them. Child Impact, with help from their donors, paid off the brick workers' debts and set them free. They gave them a home for six months and taught them new job skills. They put their children in school to learn for the first time. They also introduced them to the God who made all people equal in His sight. They learned about the Jesus who died to set all people free from greed, hatred, and injustice.

ADRA Thailand did it. They worked with thousands of migrant factory workers, stateless people, and vulnerable ethnic minorities to educate them about their rights. They advocated with business owners and the government to help those trapped in poverty. They created a shelter for people who had been trafficked.
