New Missionaries for Cambodians in Texas

Does God still break chains today? Carlos Rosario recounts his deliverance from spiritual oppression, and Chorda Rosario shares how God rescued her from abuse, near-trafficking, and witchcraft before transforming her entire family.

That’s the introduction which Hope at Night gives for the amazing testimony of two special people God rescued and brought together. You will love listening to each of their fascinating stories and seeing how God was their matchmaker. Watch now.

We are so happy to announce that God is bringing Carlos and Chorda to the mission field of Rosharon, Texas where our team has been serving for the last 9 years. You can support this exciting mission. Read on for our part of the backstory.

Julie and I worked as missionaries with the Seventh-day Adventist Church to share the gospel with Buddhists. We lived in Cambodia for six years and Thailand for ten. It was hard to leave knowing how many people out there have never had a chance to know Jesus.

In 2017 we moved to Houston to train missionaries while serving the least-reached refugees and immigrants. Shortly after arriving, Hurricane Harvey hit hard. It devastated an agricultural community south of the city. Lisa, a church member, called, urging us to bring volunteers to help.

Traveling the two hours from our home, we were amazed to find a Cambodian and Laotian community with an active Buddhist temple right in the middle. We helped rebuild houses and even the monks’ bedroom. Our volunteers visited every home and made friends. Since then, we have done health activities and Christmas programs in that very temple. You can watch past videos about this here.

ASAP Ministries and the Texas Conference supported the work and a small Bible study group formed that then became a church plant. Today, Home for All Nations continues to visit and strengthen this group. Together we have been praying for God to send someone who speaks the Khmer (Cambodian) language to better serve the people and share Jesus more fully.

Carlos and Chorda Rosario are the answer to those many prayers. Their eyes are solidly on bringing the three angels’ messages to Cambodians. They hope to return to serve in Cambodia, but since they were recently married, Chorda needs to be in America at least six months of the year. They are excited to use that time to reach out to Cambodians and other Buddhists right here in America.

Would you help us with a specific donation, or better yet, help us reach a monthly support goal of $500? The local church members have already pledged that amount and we are requesting the Texas conference to match with $1000 what we hope to provide with your help. This will give us the full Bible worker support of $2,000. We are also praying for an RV for them to stay in. If you know of one that is sitting idle that could be loaned or given, please reply to this email.

There is great potential in the Houston Metro Area. Perhaps Carlos and Chorda will be able to reach beyond Rosharon to touch some of the other Buddhists who have moved here. In Houston there are likely more than 150,000 Vietnamese, 100,000 Chinese, 8,000 Laotians, 7,000 Cambodians, 5,000 Thai and several thousand from Myanmar.

Those numbers don’t move our hearts as much as the testimony of one who has come to Christ. You can also enjoy the story of Phaly, one of those Laotian Buddhists who came to Christ in Rosharon. May God show you what you can do to help the gospel go forward among Buddhists. Learn more how here.
